Kansas

Several people told me that Kansas would seem to go on forever. It did, nearly 400 miles worth. No one told me how beautiful Kansas is. The land just rolls and rolls. It is not as flat and I thought but a constantly changing landscape of subtle colors and textures. As we approached the Kansas/Colorado border we ran straight into a thunderstorm. The kind that I had only seen pictures of with lightening flashing and the edge of the storm headed right at us. Being blown about in a Prius with 6 bikes is not much fun but after about 20 minutes we drove through the storm and the sun came out again. We were hoping for Denver on Monday but after 14 hours in the car, we settled for Limon, CO instead.
